Pain and Inflammation relief

Inflammation is literally related to four Latin characteristics: rubor (redness), calor (heat), tumor (swelling) and dolor (pain). A localized bacterial infection of the skin produces a red, swollen spot that is warm to the touch and painful. This isolated response can trigger an immunological response and bring disease-fighting white blood cells to the scene to produce the accumulation as puss and halt the infection. If the inflammation persists and the entire body begins to respond, then chronic inflammation is present.

There are many sources of chronic inflammation. The scientific literature shows that ongoing infections, dental problems, food, intestinal bacteria and exercise, for example, can impact our level of inflammation and contribute to our probability of acquiring a wide range of diseases. Inflammation-based diseases include typical degenerative and autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis, allergies, asthma, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s, as well as cancer.
Inflammation is know as the secret killer and touches many aspects of health and I am tempted to claim that even much of aging is merely symptoms associated with untreated inflammation.

Betalains which are produced by the Nopal cactus which can survive in the harsh environment of the Sonoran desert have been used for hundreds of years by the natives to reduce pain and inflammation.
