Resveratrol Red Wine
People have a long standing debate on how much alcohol a person should have everyday. Some people do not believe that red wine is a good source of health benefits, while other doctors and nutritionists believe it is. The resveratrol chemical is what they believe to carry the health benefits not the alcohol. While other foods such as peanuts carry resveratrol the amount is nothing compared to that in the grapes of red wine. Some of the most abundant natural sources of this would be the muscadine, labrusca, and vitis vinifera species of grapes.
The more grapes used in the fermentation process of the wine the higher the resveratrol concentration will be. Since a large quantity of grapes skin is significantly removed from the production of white wine, red wine becomes the most useful and reliable source of resveratrol. Resveratrol is a natural part of the defence system of plants, and is mainly responsible for the protection of plants against certain diseases. That’s why the antioxidant properties of resveratrol can also be made to form a part of our own defence system.
Resveratrol is used in several Japanese and Chinese medications that are used for treating allergy, fungal, lipid and other diseases. Resveratrol has been tested to drop heart diseases in humans through the use of consuming a lot of red wine.
Despite their diets which are high in saturated fat, the French have been proven to have a reduced risk of heart disease. The resveratrol in the grapes of the red wine must have had an impact on this fact. Alcohol consumption is never recommended but there is no proof of any side-effects of drinking red wine in moderation. Cancer-prevention is another benefit that is currently being researched in resveratrol.
Resveratrol is also believed to be the anti aging secret of centenarians who proliferate in cool climates and places abundant in production of grapes – since this particular enzyme is said to have anti aging properties. Drinking red wine moderately can make an older person look younger and healthier. This can make older people look and feel younger.
1-2 glasses of red wine is the recommended daily dose and can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Exceeding 1-2 glasses of red wine daily is not recommended because the negative effects of alcohol will outweigh the positive effects of resveratrol.
